Most people attend an osteopath due to pain or discomfort but osteopathy in pregnancy not only addresses any discomforts of pregnancy but also prepares the mother and baby for childbirth. As the baby grows and takes up more space within the abdomen there is less space for him/her to move about. The mother’s posture has to adapt to accommodate the position of the baby, and if this conflicts with her own musculoskeletal demands it may cause undue aches and pains.  Osteopathic treatment is helpful in assisting the body to make postural changes easily and makes pregnancy much more comfortable. Following the birth, osteopathy can also be very helpful. Using gentle manual techniques an osteopath can bring about profound changes using non-invasive but highly effective procedures to rebalance both mother and baby after the powerful birthing process.
