Brett Drinkwater BSc (Hons) Anth, Dip. Tuina, MTCUGB
Brett has a background in Anthropology, and has been learning Oriental medicine, and Asian bodywork for 10 years. A practitioner of Chinese medicine, Brett specialises in Chinese physical (external) medicine and Tui-Na Bodywork to help with musculo-skeletal and chronic pain conditions, ‘sports’ medicine, and stress. He also makes use of and teaches Natural Tai Chi & Breath-Work for rehabilitation, health and well-being.
Tui-Na Bodywork is a hands-on body treatment that aims to bring the body systems in to balance, and improve circulation of blood and qi, aiding a return to homeostasis. There are three inter-related aspects; Tuina (推拿) which focuses on manipulation of the neuro-musculo-skeletal system. Zhiya (指壓) which focuses on holding, pressing and manipulation of acupressure points. Anmo (按摩) which focuses on the massage of the soft-tissues.
Brett continues to deepen his knowledge with studies in the classical Chinese medicine of the Yin style Bagua medical tradition under Andrew Nugent-Head. This on-going training enables him to deepen his understanding and further improve his skills.
Brett is a member and instructor with the Tai Chi Union of Great Britain (TCUGB), and has helped deliver the Tai Chi for Chronic Pain program on the NHS alongside it’s director Dr. Matthew Brewer.
